Introduction

Godman Kingdom Chaplaincy Ministry (GKCM) is the charitable and humanitarian arm of Godman Soteria Academy, committed to expanding God’s Kingdom through transformative chaplaincy services.

Challenges

At first, discussing the ideas of the organization seems like a straight forward step from A to B to C.

  1. The organization clearly need a website to house all their operational information, showcase their activities, their vision, mission and goals in such a way that users feel enthusiastic joining and supporting their cause.
  2. The organization wanted a membership system built on the website that ensures users who wish to support their cause, will go through a registration process and have an account on the website where they can access more confidential information about the organizations operation.
  3. The organization wanted a systemized database directory that can store a large number of Homes and communities the organization serves, although this information were to be confidential according to the regulation policy that guides the Nigerian Non Profit organization in their service. but the organization wanted a directory that could house this large data in which they can easily make reference towards for their in house members.
  4. The most crucial challenge of this project was the user journey that was needed to be well structured, according to the system the organization requested on their website.  there was a need for a well guided user journey that could help the user navigate the website from the homepage to the desired goal of the organization, which is becoming a volunteer and supporting their cause. 
  5. The organization also needed a real time data display of certain information like the number of registered users, registered homes and community children to ensure complete transparency for their users and enhance more trust from the general public.

Ideated Solutions

To Address these challenges, we applied an effective aspect of our experience in UX design process, ideating solution for each of these challenges and segmenting it into priorities using frameworks such as: 

  • Impact vs. Effort Matrix: We Prioritized problems that have the highest user impact and are feasible to solve with current resources.
  • MoSCoW Method (Must-have, Should-have, Could-have, Won’t-have): We use this method in distinguishing essential features from those that can wait.
  • Jobs-To-Be-Done Framework (JTBD): We ensured to focus on solving the most pressing user “jobs” first.

At the end of this ideation exercise, we were able to streamline our ideated solutions to the most important and relevant to the website.

  1. we summarized relevant information from the large data given to us by the organization, this summarized information were grouped into segments to showcase the organization operations, activities on the homepage, while the rest of the relevant information such as the vision, mission and goals of the organization were carefully arranged to be placed on the about us page, with an overall well structured information from the homepage to the about us page, users could easily get a solid understanding of what the organization does and how it operates. number 1 challenge was solved.
  2. The second prioritized function of the website has to do with the users membership journey and how they could navigate the website user registration, becoming a member and getting access to more information to complete their goal as a volunteer.

We integrated a Membership software plugin, (Ultimate Membership Plugin Pro) to help users register and become a volunteer on the website.

The PLS. Organization membership were grouped into 3 segments, which differentiate users who wanted to join their cause for a short period of time and users who had more interest in engaging more activities with the organization, and the third segments were meant for groups of other organization that might want to partner and partake in their cause.

Ultimate membership plugin was set up to handle these 3 aspect of membership for the organization with a seamless registration process, user profiles and account securities to ensure users information are well secured through the process.

3. The third challenge we prioritized was the website functionality to be able to store the organization homes and communities, to achieve this we had ensured to purchase a large hosting service that could take that much data without lagging behind, and in the process of structuring the user journey we also integrated an automated email system that onboards users with the organizations overview of operation and a guide to what the users need to do next upon registering as a volunteers, this process was well structured to ensure the best user experience.

After getting through these stage of the website we had solve 60% of the most important features needed for the website, we then completed the rest of the 40% by fine tuning the website with other features such as,

  • Integrating all Google site kit features.
  • Ensuring the website meet accessibility guideline.
  • Structuring the website content for SEO.
  • Adding Unique images that expresses the organization operation.
  • setting up a live event data system that records the number of volunteers and homes been registered live. all other secondary features were also integrated to fully complete the The P.L.S. Initiative Non profit organization website.

Project Results

Bringing all that we’ve built together, the P.L.S Initiative Website came to live, we ensured to run a test so as to be sure it met our previously aligned goal. which were:

  • The website showcased the organization activities, mission, vision and goals with much enthusiasm that encourages users to want to learn more about the organization upon landing on the homepage.
  • the website ensures users who wish to support the organization cause, can register as a member  to learn more about the organization operations and solutions.
  • The website functions as a database system directory that stores a wide variety of the organization homes and community
  • The website has a well structured user journey that ensure users enjoy a seamless navigation from the home page to becoming a volunteer.
  • The website displays a real time data of each newly registered volunteer and each registered homes and communities.
